Welcome to our home at Käärmekallio!

The main building of the farm was completed in 2011, and the first horses actually lived in the stable at my home place next door, until our own stable in our own yard was finished a few years later. That was when the hobby really took off, and the variety of animals grew. A pond was dug for the ducks to swim in, and pastures were made for the horses on an old field base. The host built a beautiful stone fence along the driveway from the stones in the field, sowed the pastures, and enclosures were constructed. Then came the horses, Aurora the dog, Pertti the goat, and Lettu the cat. The donkeys Ulpukka and Helinä were brought from Rantsila during a summer trip. Eventually there was a whole herd of animals, and people from nearby cottages came to see them. That’s when the idea of having an animal yard of its own was born, and apparently that’s how they usually get started!
Please note that this is the animals’ home and they are used to their own herd. Please leave any pets at home, thank you.
